The Psalms 1 - 75 are taken
from the King James Version of the Bible, originally known as
the Authorized Version which was first published in the year
1611. Christian traditions vary and the Protestant translations
of the Psalms are based on the Hebrew numbering. An individually
printed volume of Psalms for use in Christian religious rituals
is called a Psalter.
The Book
of Psalms The Book of Psalms consists of 150 psalms. Each of the Psalms
constitutes a sacred or religious song or chant. One of the most
famous psalms in this section is Psalm 51 which is said to have
been composed by David after Nathan upbraided him over Bathsheba
and Uriah. However the the best known of all the Psalms is Psalm
23: The Lord is my shepherd. Other famous psalms in this section
are Psalms 32, 46, 51 and 69.
Popular Psalms The most popular Psalms are the

shepherd has a strong message of comfort and is often chosen to

Miserere) is read in the sacrament of repentance or confession.
